This policy explains what information jalboza.com (“Jalboza,” “this site”) collects from visitors, why, and how long it is kept. The site publishes essays on faith, Korean culture, and everyday reflections.
Information collected and why
- Comments. If you leave a comment, the name, email address, and website you enter are stored, along with your IP address and browser information, to display and moderate comments and prevent abuse. Your email address is not published. A hashed string made from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile image there.
- Email. If you write to me, I receive your email address and message, and use them only to reply.
- Server logs. The hosting provider, Hostinger, may record technical data such as IP addresses and browser type to run and protect the site.
- Analytics. Usage data is collected as described below, to understand which pages are read and improve the site.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses cookies. If you choose when commenting, your name, email address, and website are saved in a cookie on your browser so you need not enter them again.
This site uses Google Analytics, through Google Site Kit. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect data such as pages viewed, device and browser type, and approximate location, and it processes IP addresses in doing so. You can read about this at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some site features, such as remembering your comment details, may then not work.
Advertising
This site displays advertising through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies enable it and its partners to serve ads based on those visits. Google and other third parties may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons (small invisible images or code) or IP addresses, to collect information when ads are shown on this site.
You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, and learn about other vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info.
Who processes your information
Your personal information is not sold for money. Information is handled by the service providers that run this site: Hostinger (hosting), Google (analytics and advertising), and Gravatar (comment profile images). Google and its ad partners also receive information through advertising, as described above. These providers may process information outside your country, under their own policies. Information may also be disclosed when the law requires it.
How long information is kept
- Comments: for as long as the comment remains on the site, or until you ask for removal.
- Emails: for as long as needed to reply and keep the conversation, or until you ask for deletion.
- Analytics, advertising, and server data: for the periods set by Google and Hostinger under their own policies.
Information that is no longer needed is deleted from the site or mailbox. Copies may remain in routine hosting backups until those backups are replaced.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct, or delete your personal information, or ask me to stop processing it. To do so, write to the contact below. Where the law gives you further rights, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
How information is protected
The site uses HTTPS encryption, password-protected administrator access, and the security and backup services of its hosting provider. No online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Links to other sites
Essays may link to other sites, such as Substack and Ko-fi. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this site is not responsible for their practices.
